Tesla Camping Mattress: Model Y, 3, X and S

Before buying a camping mattress, check that it fits the sleeping area and leaves enough room for bedding and gear. Check the listed Tesla model and year, mattress dimensions, thickness, and packed size before buying.

Set up the complete bed at home before the first trip. A mattress may fit the sleeping area but still leave too little room for bedding, bags, shoes, window covers, or access to the driver seat.

Measure Before Buying

Do not rely on a product photo to judge fit. Measure the usable sleeping length and width with the seats in the position you will use overnight, then compare those measurements with the mattress specifications.

Thickness matters too. A thicker mattress may feel softer but uses more headroom and can make it harder to sit up, change clothes, or move between the bed and front seats.

Model Y

Choose a mattress specifically listed for the Model Y and check the model-year range. Test the fit with the rear seats folded and with the bags or storage containers you expect to carry.

Model 3

Choose a mattress or pad listed for the Model 3 rather than assuming a Model Y product will fit. Pay particular attention to mattress width, thickness, and the space needed to move gear out of the sleeping area.

Model X

For Model X, check the seat configuration and measure the sleeping area before ordering. Check the product's listed compatibility before buying.

Model S

For Model S, check the product's model-year compatibility, width, length, and thickness. A lower-profile mattress preserves more room above the bed.

Air Mattress or Foam Sleeping Pad?

An air mattress packs down smaller and lets you adjust firmness. It also depends on valves, seams, and a pump. A foam pad has fewer parts and is quick to set up, but it takes more storage space when packed.

Choose the type that fits the car, stores easily, and can be set up without unloading the cabin.

Two-Person Sleeping

Two sleepers use more of the available width and leave less room for overnight gear. Test the bed with both people in place before the trip and decide where shoes, clothing, bags, phones, water, and window covers will go.

Soft bags are easier to move around the cabin than rigid luggage once the mattress is installed.

Inflation, Deflation, and Repairs

Inflate an air mattress at home before relying on it overnight. Check the pump connection, valves, and deflation procedure, and keep the repair patch with the pump instead of in a separate bag.

Practice packing the mattress back into its storage bag. If it is difficult to repack at home, it will be worse in a crowded car in the morning.

Camp Mode and Bedding

Tesla Camp Mode maintains cabin temperature while you remain inside the parked vehicle. Choose sheets, blankets, or a sleeping bag for the conditions and keep them compact enough to store during the day.
